The Democratic Party in many ways is disconnected from their core constituency. They have forgotten about who built this country. It was the blue collar worker that came home everyday to their families after a long days work. This is something that needs to be solved in the very near future in order for the Democratic Party to capture and sustain momentum and focus.
I'm at a loss as to how and why the Democratic Party has been so insular in terms of focus. They have only concentrated on National Politics rather than having a focus on Local and State Politics which is where people live and breathe daily. Republicans control the majority of State Legislatures and Local Government's which are having a direct impact on people's lives.
The irony is this. Bernie Sanders who is an Elderly White Male, spoke to the Democratic Constituency in a way that galvanized youth while at the same time spoke to the needs and concerns of Baby Boomers. He has a message and a core belief in how our Democracy has been hijacked by K Street and Corporate interests; and how the collusion that is taking place between these entities and Congress is placing the Working Class at a disadvantage. We will need more than nice words to change that trajectory and dynamic.
WHAT THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP NEEDS ARE FIGHTERS. Those that stand on Principle and are willing to fight to the death for those Principles in face of the blowback that they may receive!
I will be one of those fighters, on the front lines!
